Immigration: Thomas and his sister Frances appear on the passenger list of the Marygould, preparing to depart for New England from Weymouth in Dorset on the 20'th of March, 1634/35. They sailed under Rev. Joseph Hull, and arrived May 6'th at Wessaguscus, Mass.(changed to Weymouth in May, 1635).5
Freeman: on 17 May 1637 in Dorchester, Suffolk Co., Mass..6
Residence: in 1640 Windsor, CT.

áááááThomas "Deble" age 22, and his sister, Frances, age 24, are found in Hotton's "Original Lists" which shows they left Weymouth in Dorset on the 20'th of March, 1635, under Rev. Joseph Hull, and arrived May 6'th at Weymouth. Their father, Robert, and their mother were already present in Dorchester, Mass., when they arrived.
áááááDorchester town records show that on "The 17th day of December, 1635. It is ordered, that Robert Deeble shall have in lardgement of Two goad in length from his house upward, and that his sonne T[homas] Deeble shall have six goad next him to goe with a right lyne up from the pale before his house, on condition, for Thommas Deeble to build a house there, within one yeere, or else to loose that goad graunted him".7
áááááThis establishes Thomas as a son of Robert, however, it is thought that he probably did not build this house as he likely removed soon to Windsor with Mr. Warham's party who followed Thomas Hooker with the majority of his congregation.
áááááAlthough I have not found any records which show the given name of Thomas's first wife, VanBuren Lamb shows her given name as Mary or Miriam. 8 Some claim that her surname is Grant but, again, I am unaware of any information which might support this claim. VanBuren Lamb shows one intriguing possibility that there may be a connection to Thomas Ford, who had daughters Hepzibah, Miriam, and Joanna. The same names appear as daughters of Thomas Dibble and his wife, but again, no proof has yet been found.
áááááThomas's wife, possibly Miriam, died in 1681 and in 1683 he married Elizabeth (_____) the widow of John Hawkes and Dea. Robert Hinsdale. Elizabeth's second marriage to Robert Hinsdale was troublesome and he had been fined and whipped for his treatment of her. Robert Hinsdale had first been married to Ann Woodward, our aunt, and sister to our ancestor, Peter Woodward. Robert, and three of his sons by Ann Woodward, were killed in King Philip's War in 1675 in the battle of Bloody Brook, near Deerfield, when about seven hundred Indians ambushed a band conveying supplies to Hadley, under Capt. Thomas Lathrop. Seventy-seven men were slaughtered and in 1838 a monument to the fallen men was erected.

áááááAlexander Edwards was born in Wales.1 He married Sarah Baldwin, daughter of Richard Baldwin and Isabel Harding(?), on 28 April 1642 in Springfield, Mass..1,2 He died on 4 September 1690 in Northampton, Hampshire Co., Mass..3,4
ááááá
Immigration: circa 1640, From Wales, embarked at Bristol.
Freeman: on 8 February 1678 in Northampton, Hampshire Co., Mass..5
Residence: circa 1655 Removed from Springfield to Northampton.

áááááAccording to the History of Northampton, Alexander was one of the 4 people that financed the first grist mill in Northampton, MA. There was a wide spread disease that caused fever and plague in 1688 to 1690 that caused the death of Alexander and many other settlers of Northampton.
Will dated 30 Aug., inv. taken 24 Oct 1690, Beq. to sons Samuel, Benjamin and Nathaniel, daus. Mary Field and Elizabeth Clark; to Sarah North, and John and Samuel Davis; wife to be well cared for.
áááááIt appears that the daughters of Alexander and Sarah Edwards cared more for the finer things in life than was thought appropriate in a frontier town. In March, of 1676, the daughters, Hannah, Sarah, and Elizabeth, among others, were presented to the court in Northampton "for wearing silk in a flaunting manner and for long hair and other extravagances contrary to sober order, and demenour not becoming a wilderness state."6 All were admonished and fined.

áááááIn a deposition taken by Henry Smith of Springfield on 26 May, 1651, Alexander gave the following account in regards to the suspicion of witchcraft by Hugh Parsons and his wife:

"This deponent sayth yt he tooke good notice yt his Cow lessened her milke on a suddaine, and from 3 quarts shee gave not above one quart at most; alsoe yt her milke was of a verry odd colour in all her teates, yellowish & somewht Blooddy as if it were festered & it continued soe about a weeke. This fell out to ye Cow the next meale after yt his wife had denyed Hugh Parsons milke, and yt ye Cow ayled nothinge to any of yr aprehentions and grew well agayne and came to her milke without any meanes used."7

In the same case, Richard Excell testified:
"he heard Hugh Parsons aske Sarah Edwards for milke, and shee told him shee could spare him no moer milke, she would pay him wht else shee owed him some other way. He replyed he had rather have wht was due to him in milke. The next meal Rich: Excell saw ye milke ye Cow gave, and it was farr differinge fro ye usuall colour of milke it was verry yellow and unfit for any to eate, and it was not above a quart yt ye Cow gave if it were soe much."

áááááSarah was associated with her brother Joseph of Milford, CT and later Hadley, MA. Sarah married, as her first husband, John Searle. Joseph's daughter, Elizabeth, married James Warriner, the son of William Warriner and Joanna Searle, sister-in-law to Sarah.
